Our last full graded inspection took place in 2015 and we were delighted that inspectors not only evaluated that everything was at least good, but that leadership and management, and behaviour and safety of pupils, were all judged to be outstanding:
- The school is characterised by its focus upon improving teaching and learning, and its culture of sharing best teaching practice;
- The school’s work to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence has proved very successful;
- The curriculum is a real strength of the school and it ensures students are very well prepared for the next phase in their education or training as well as for life in modern Britain;
- Governors are highly effective in their role and governance is outstanding;
- The behaviour of students is outstanding. They arrive at lessons promptly and get on with their work willingly, demonstrating a thirst for learning;
- Students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is exceptionally well promoted and pervades the life of the school;
- Students show excellent attitudes to learning and a very strong desire to do well and produce their best. They are very polite and respectful, and clearly enjoy their time in the school.
Having secured such a great report in 2015, Ofsted’s next visit was a Section 8 (ungraded) Inspection in 2022. Such inspections are designed to check if a school continues to be good and we were once again delighted with the outcome with the headline being, “Pupils are happy to attend this kind and welcoming school. Pupils achieve well. This is because leaders set high expectations for all pupils”
