Operation Encompass

Cardinal Allen has been given the opportunity to take part in a project that will run jointly between schools and Lancashire Constabulary Operation Encompass means that the police will share information about Domestic Abuse incidents. We have key adults, Mr. D Sutcliffe & Mrs. L Garside (DSLs), in place to support children who are trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to ensure that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been through a traumatic ordeal. We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our students and believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.

Further information on our commitment is embedded within our Safeguarding policy. There is also additional guidance to Operation Encompass via the link below.

‘Early help’ describes any service that supports children and families as soon as problems emerge.

What is early help?

Early Help can take many forms, but typically involves collaboration between schools, families, local authorities, and sometimes external agencies.

Examples of early help services at Cardinal Allen include:

  • Parenting support
  • Emotional health and wellbeing support
  • Uniform and Food bank
  • Homework support / After school clubs

If your child or family is facing challenges that may require additional support, or if the school feels that extra help from other services would be beneficial, a coordinated approach involving several professionals is often the most effective way to provide that support. In Lancashire, this is done through an Early Help Assessment, which helps identify the right support for your family. A Lead Practitioner will be appointed to work closely with you to make sure you receive the help you need. Your child’s school will play an important role in this process, working as a key partner alongside other services to support your family. If you feel you would benefit from further support please contact the pastoral team here at Cardinal Allen.
